Owosso Artisan Market

Clawdia's Creations is participating in the in the Owosso Artisan Market for the first time today! It takes place in downtown Owosso at the corner of Main and Washington every Thursday during the summer from 4:30 until 8 p.m. There are artists, crafters, food vendors, musicians and more showcasing products made in Michigan! Matt and I stumbled across it while visiting Owosso a few weeks ago, and I decided it looked like so much fun I needed to be a part of it! Those of you in's not far; stop out after work and have a look around. Maybe start your Christmas shopping early...only four months to go, after all!

Meridian Crafters' Marketplace

Tomorrow is the last Sunday in June (yikes, where did it go...???) and that means the first Meridian Crafters' Marketplace of 2010. It will be held the fourth Sundays of June, July, August and September, just as it was last year, from 11-4 in the Central Park Pavilion behind the township offices on Marsh Road. Mary and I will share table space this year, although she will not be there for tomorrow's show. I will, however, have her catnip mice on display, along with cat collar bandanas, a new addition to her business since last summer. If you have a kitty or even a small dog, you need to check these out--they are available in a variety of colors and patterns to complement any pet!

I've been working hard on new items this spring as well, and will have some on display Sunday. I'll have a bunch of stretchy bracelets

kitty earrings in a variety of bright color choices

Some new, colorful kitty figurines

Colorful swirl pendants on triple organza strands

and cool Retro style bullseye earrings and beads

Also some red, white and blue items just in time for July 4. Those I haven't photographed yet.

So come on out Sunday to see what's new for Clawdia's Creations and Cat's Cradle Creations, and see what other talented folks in Meridian Township have to offer!

Okemos Art Walk

It's time once again for the annual Celebrate Downtown Okemos Art Walk. It takes place in downtown Okemos and Wonch Park, and includes a fine art fair, a crafters' show, live music, food, children's events, and local business open houses. Riverside Cat Hospital is participating once again, with a clinic open house, adoptable cats from Ingham County Animal Control, contests, face painting by Hallie, and arts and crafts from Mary and yours truly. We had a lot of fun last year, and you can read about it and see photos by going back to my post from June 2009. This year we will also host watercolor artist Richard O'Malley, who will showcase his beautiful cat portraits! The Art Walk is tomorrow, Saturday, June 19th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Stop by to see some great cat paintings, and see what new goodies Clawdia's Creations has, too!

Custom kitty eyeglass holder

Not long ago I was commissioned by my coworker Hallie to make a kitty eyeglass holder as a gift for a friend of hers. She asked me to make him in a mix of the woman's favorite colors, purple, green and blue, and to have him holding a musical note. Here he is upon completion:

Sorry, the photo was taken in haste and isn't the best, but you get the idea.

The recipient is apparently very happy with him, and sent Hallie a photo of herself wearing him, which she has kindly agreed to let me include on this blog.

Thank you Hallie and Cathy, I still get a kick out of seeing people enjoying my creations!

New kitty creations my poor blog has been neglected yet again! But that doesn't mean Clawdia's Creations has been idle. Far from it--Claudia has been a busy, busy girl and has many new items on the way to prove it!

New kitty creations are already on display, this time at Riverside Cat Hospital in Okemos. There are some of the pins I blogged about a few posts back...

...whimsical kitty necklaces with Swarovski crystal eyes...

...and earrings in a variety of color combinations.

Best of all, 50% of the proceeds go to help cats and cat owners in need!
If you are looking for a gift for the cat lover in your life, stop by and check them out. The clinic is located at 4632 Okemos Road, just south of the intersection of Okemos and Hamilton. Take a tour while you're there--it's a fantastic place to bring your kitty for vet care or a stay at "kitty camp" (boarding) while you go on your summer vacation!

I've also been making beads like a madwoman and trying some new cane techniques, so I'll be back soon with another update.

Trash to treasure swap

I recently participated in a swap on the forums at Polymer Clay Central called the Trash to Treasure Round Robin Swap. The swap's originator thought it would be nice for members to share items they no longer wanted or needed with others on the forum; clay or anything that could be used with clay was fair game. She filled a medium size flate-rate postal box with items from her studio, and sent it to the next participant, who took out what she wanted, replaced the items with items of her own, and so on. The box made its way overseas, where it went to Scotland, Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, Sweden, and finally back to the states. After traveling around for several months (and hitting a snag or two along the way) it finally showed up at my front door, overflowing with goodies:

With a 25 item limit, it was tough to decide what to keep:

Then came the decision of what to put back in:

Here are just a few of the wonderful treasures I ended up with:

What a fun thing to do, and something I will gladly do again any time!

More kitty pins

As promised, round two of kitty pins are ready to be "adopted out" to their new homes!

These smiling feline faces come in springy shades and have Swarovski crystal eyes for a little extra sparkle!

You can find them at Kellie's Consignments for now; and soon I will be posting dates and locations of upcoming spring and summer arts and craft shows. I can hardly wait!
